"Oh yea?" Well, it says so in the Bible!"

I review for BookSneeze
I LOVE it when I can have a good debate with someone about the Bible and then have an immediate reference to back up whatever it is I am talking about. Nothing is more frustrating than knowing that the Bible says one thing, then not remember where it is in the Bible!
Well, this awesome book "Nelson's Biblical Cyclopedic Index" is just choc-ful of amazing references, definitions and where to find anything you need to know about in the Bible! It also has the definitions of any Biblical word that may confuse you. Not to mention this book also includes genealogical references and more! If you are a pastor of a church, or just a "Bible nerd" (like me!) , this book is PERFECT for you! There are just too many references to mention here, but for the price, I would say it is highly worth the money!!

Click the following link to buy it on Amazon! http://www.amazon.com/Nelsons-Biblical-Cyclopedic-Index-Subject/dp/1418543748/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1293720731&sr=8-1

A refreshing update to some familiar information!

I recently received the book "What in the World is Going on?- 10 Prophetic Clues you can't Ignore" and this is my review of this book!

I went to Liberty University as well as I grew up in a Baptist Church and school. There is s LOT of information in this book, which takes a new spin on some old information. I was excited about this book because I love listening to Dr. David Jeremiah on christian radio and always feel blessed and challenged when he preaches.

What is going on in our world? Where are we in perspective of Bible Prophecy being fulfilled? What still has to happen? What do today's events mean in a Biblical sense?

This book answers all of those questions and more. Chapter by chapter, Dr. David Jeremiah breaks down many Bible prophecies and shows us what is going on today.

The back of the book says, "Events unfolding in today's world are certainly unsettling, but they need not be confusing or frightening."

And, this book really helps to separate fear and confusion and gives you a better understanding of what God says about what is going on right now in our world.

I love that I recieved this book from booksneeze to review!

My review of Hermie: Who is in Charge Anyway

Posted 8/1/2010: Recently, I had the opportunity to review the DVD of "Hermie & Friends: Who's In Charge Anyway?" by Max Lucado. I don't have kids, but I have friends who have children and that's part of the reason I wanted to see what this DVD was like.

I liked the graphics of the Hermie DVD, which definitely is better than your average cartoon on TV. Much attention is paid to detail. I also liked the message that is getting across about how God has a plan for each person from before the start of their life.

There were a couple of things that I did not like. First, I felt like the story was slow moving and may not be for a kid older than toddler age. I kept waiting for the story to pick up a little, but the voices were soft and mellow, and I felt like I could put this video on to get kids to take a nap. Second, I found it kind of weird how God's voice comes out of the sky to talk to all of the characters. This was weird and I'm not sure would be helpful to kids wanting to learn to hear God's voice about their purpose in life.

All in all, I think parents who have enjoyed this set of videos by Max Lucado will find it in line with the rest of the series and will probably buy it. If you have older kids, I don't recommend it. But, younger kids might find it to be enjoyable and learn something about God and their purpose.

REVIEW: God's Promises for Boys

I have been looking for a good book to start devotionals with my two year old. I was SO excited to be able to review this book for Thomas Nelson!

God's Promises for Boys by Jack Countryman and Amy Parker teaches boys about the usefulness of Scripture in everyday life. Each two page spread illustrates a promise made to man by God. There is a short poem about that promise and then three to four bible verses that support that promise made by God. In total, there are 60 promises addressed in the book. I really enjoyed this book. The illustrations are adorable and my son really enjoyed reading the book. I also think that this will be a good book to refer back to when we need to address issues in his life. I think this would make a wonderful gift for any young boy. There is also a companion book entitled, God's Promises for Girls. Although I have not seen this book, I think that it would be just as good as the one for boys.

Review of Revolve 2010

Photobucket

This Biblezine (that's what I call it) is so great for teen girls! My daughter is 12 years old and in 6th grade and I can't tell you how much it just touched my heart to see her reading this and sharing it with her friends! From the various stories that revert back to Bible verses to the really fun quizzes throughout, it is well worth the money spent. She spent hours on the phone with her friends doing all of those quizzes. So much better than any secular teen magazine out there. And educational as well.
I reviewed this book as part of the Thomas Nelson book review club, but I am actually purchasing a few extra to give away as presents to some of my daughters friends! A must have for any teen girl!

Free Grand Slam breakfast tomorrow! 2/9!

Every guest from 6AM - 2PM on Tuesday (2/9) will receive 1 free Grand Slam! They did this last year and it was pretty crazy at the restaurants. If you plan to go I highly suggest getting there early, there were long lines last year.

Last year this is what they did......Per Denny's Corporate, every store also received 500 Grand Slam rain check coupons. Denny's has instructed each manger to hand these rain checks out good for a free Grand Slam to any guest who doesn't want to wait.

So go into Denny's, on Tuesday find the manger and get a great coupon book, and a free Grand Slam rain check coupon, and not wait.
I am not 100% positive they are doing that again or not, but they did it last year so chances are good. Also they passed out great coupon booklets last year as well!

Book Review: The Gospel According to Lost

Photobucket

I have watched every episode of Lost since the very beginning. This book just really digs down deep into each character's soul. Each chapter is focused on a different character(s). The layout of the book makes it a very easy read. It's amazing how the author is able to find all of the similarities to the Lost characters to Biblical characters. I never thought this before, but I really do think that the creators of Lost either A. Are Christians or B. Had a Christian do some serious Biblical research to base this tv series on. You could easily use this book as a Bible Study series. One chapter each week. I'm so sad the book is over. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough!

Note: I am a book reviewer for Thomas Nelson and they sent this book to me for my review to post on here. I would have totally paid the full price for this book, though! Definitely a must have for any Lost fan!
